PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri S&T had one winning performance over the weekend as well as two top-four finishes as it competed at the Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University.

The Miners had three of the top 11 finishers in the open pole vault Friday, led by Lucas Rosenbaum (Sidney, NE/Sidney HS)'s winning performance with a clearance of 16-1¼ that was an improvement on his NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.  Ezekiel Buck (Elburn, IL/Geneva) finished 10th with a clearance of 14-9½, while Andrew Scherff(St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell North HS) also cleared that height to finish in 11th.

John Karsten (Jefferson City, MO/Blair Oaks HS) finished in 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 55-3, while Garrett Blanchard (Centralia, IL/Centralia) was 11th in the 3,000-meters in 8:52.56 and Alex Staples (River Forest, IL/Oak Park River Forest) was 12th in the 800-meters in 1:54.92

The top finishers among the women were Hannah Shearer (Conroe, TX/The Woodlands Christian Academy) in the 3,000-meters as she placed third in 10:27.31, Amanda Wetzel (Keller, TX/Keller), who was fourth in the pole vault by clearing 12-4¾ and  Skyler Ruszkowski (League City, TX/Clear Falls) in the high jump as she cleared 5-3¾.  Megan Schulte (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) was ninth in the 3,000 in 10:43.16.

The Miners and Lady Miners compete next weekend at the Central Missouri Classic in Warrensburg, Mo., which will be S&T's final tune-up prior to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.
