St. Louis University High School hosted the 10th Annual Festival of the Miles Events this past weekend. The events included boys and girls Middle School Mile, Junior High Invitational Mile, High School Mile and Men's and Women's Elite Mile. Two locals took part in the Middle School Mile, winning the boys and girls events.

14-year-old Steelville native Luke Sutton and 11-year-old Rolla Middle Schooler Izzy Frost ran in the Middle School Mile bringing home first place wins as first overall male and female winners. The course for the event was cross country style, finishing at the SLUH track finish line.

Sutton finished with a time of 5:09 to finish first, while Frost set the new female Middle School Mile record with a time of 5:43. She set beat the previous record by 10 seconds.

The duo will next run in the AAU Junior Olympics Regional Qualifier this Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11 at Festus High School. The top four in each single division event will move on to the 51st Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, MI in early August.
