The local co-ed softball league hosted by Rolla Parks and Rec was finally able to get into action on Thursday, May 18. The league was rained out for it's first few weeks of action, but they were able to kick things off last week.

Blowouts were common across the co-ed softball league and that started on Morgan Field between Curt's Mobile Homes and 88 Stitches. Curt's Mobile Homes dominated from jumpstreet in a 12-3 win, which was highlighted by a sixth run sixth inning. 88 Stitches came back in their second game with a blowout of their own over Accidental Winners. They cruised to a 23-1 win, scoring at least three runs in every inning of their victory.

The final two games on Morgan Field were much closer with the third matchup between Outsiders and J&S Small Engine Repair being the closest. The Outsiders couldn't score for the first six innings of the contest, which opened the door for J&S to build up a 6-0 lead. The Outsiders scored three runs in the seventh too make things interesting, but it was too little too late in a 6-3 loss. J&S then kept rolling in the final game on Morgan Field against Curls for the Girls. Curls for the Girls had the early advantage, scoring five runs in the first two innings to take a 5-2 lead. They added four more runs in the third and fourth, but then J&S started their comeback. They scored four in the fourth and eight in the fifth to pull out a 15-10 victory to cap off their evening.

Kimmel Field saw an interesting mix of blowouts and tight games in the four contests on the field and the first game of the night was the closest across the league between Angels Among Us and Team BS. The entire game was back and forth. Angels scored three runs in the top of the first, but Team BS came back with three of their own in the bottom of the frame. Angels Among Us then scored six in the second, but Team BS cut into that lead with four runs of their own in the inning. Angels managed just one run in the third, opening the door for Team BS to take a 12-10 lead with a five run inning. Angels Among Us came right back to take the lead with a three run fourth with BS tying it again with a run in the bottom of the frame. Angels Among us then took the lead back again with a run in the top of the fifth, but Team BS was able to walk away with the win with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to cap off a 15-14 victory.

Team BS didn't have the same luck in their second game, as they were smashed by Ink Monkeys 30-4 in the second game on Kimmel Field. Ink Monkeys started things off with 17 run first and never looked back in the win. The Ink Monkeys second game wasn't as easy, however. They matched up against Central Missouri Sporting Goods for the second close ballgame on the night on Kimmel Field. After scoreless first innings by both teams, the Ink Monkeys took a 4-2 lead in the second. Both teams sprinkled in runs for the next few innings, with Ink Monkeys holding onto a 9-5 lead heading into the final inning. Central Missouri Sporting Goods managed to tie the game in the top of the sixth, but the Ink Monkeys scored twice in the bottom of the frame to walk away with an 11-9 win.

Bench Warmers and Accidental Winners ended the night on Kimmel Field, with Bench Warmers running away with a 24-4 win.

The final field of games saw three blowouts. Make it a Double and Green Construction faced off in the first game of the night, with Green Construction running away with a 15-8 win. Make it a Double then came back to claim game two over Not Forgotten with a 20-14 victory. They scored at least three runs in each of the first four innings in the victory. Not Forgotten then lost their second game of the night to Alcoholics 10-1.
