The Newburg track team sent three players to the Class 1 Missouri State Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 20. After having the day off on Friday, Newburg medaled in three of their four events on Saturday.

The javelin was a major category for Newburg at the State Meet, as Audrey Suschanke qualified for the girls and Trey Gaedke qualified for the boys. Both earned medals at the meet, as the top eight spots in every event earned medals.

Suschanke was nearly a State Champion as a senior, finishing in second place with her best throw of 125' 11". She finished 1' 7" behind the champion, Kate Ruediger of New Haven. Suschanke claimed second by more than 10 feet over the third place finisher, Dayle Davis of Rock Port.

Gaedke wasn't far behind Suschanke's second place finish, as the Newburg senior placed fifth on the boys side of things. Gaedke threw consistently well, but had a top throw of 144 feet. Midway's Peyton Richardson took home first in the meet with a throw of 167' 9". Gaedke just missed out on having two medals, as he also took part in the 3,200m run. He was just over three seconds outside of eighth place, finishing ninth with a time of 10:38.95.

Jacob Russell was the final competitor for Newburg to earn a medal at State. Russell pole vaulted for the Wolves and finished in fourth place by clearing 11' 3". Gage McAdams of Tarkio won the event by clearing 14' 3".
