The Rolla track team traveled down to Bolivar for the SBU Bearcat Classic at Southwest Baptist University on Tuesday, April 25. The meet was packed with some phenomenal competition, but Rolla had several personal records over the course of the day.

The best individual finish for Rolla was Nnamezie Orizu in the 110 hurdles. He placed third in the event and set a new PR in the event with a time of 16.09. Colton Moore took seventh in the event. Orizu and Moore also ran the 300m hurdles with Moore placing sixth with a time of 43.08 and Orizu placing ninth with a time of 44.32.

Rolla had several top 10 finishes throughout the day. The next best came from the boys 4X800 relay team, where they finished fourth with a time of 8:32.81. Their boys relays also took eighth in the 4X400, 10th in the 4X200 and 17th in the 4X100.

The girls 4X800 relay was also their top finish for the relay events. The Lady Bulldogs placed seventh in the 4X800, ninth in the 4X200, 10th in the 4X400 and 18th in the 4X100.

Rolla's female runners had their best success in the distance runs and hurdles. Bayli Graydon took sixth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50.59, but fell just shy of the highly competitive 100m hurdles finals. Emma Puetz had a sixth place finish of her own with a PR in the 3,200m run with a time of 12:11.31. Other strong distance finishes included a 14th place finish from Krista Hilmas in the 1,600m run. Mya Burken also placed ninth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:04.35, while Oliva Holmes placed 11th in the same event with a time of 1:04.66.

The boys also had their share of success in distance events. Mike Jennings earned 10th place in the 1,600m run as their top distance runner with a time of 4:48.49. Sudatta Hor also took 15th in the 2000m run and Bryce O'Connor took 14th in the 400m dash.

Both the boys and girls teams jumped well. The boys were led by Nick Janke, who had sixth place finishes in the high jump and triple jump. Janke cleared 6' 2" in the high jump and jumped 41' 7.75" in the triple jump. Landon Adams also finished ninth in the pole vault by clearing 12 feet.

The top female jumper was Taylor Stevens, who cleared 9' 6" in the pole vault to place sixth. Courtney Colench and Kassandra Hayes placed 14th and 16th in the high jump with Colench also placing 17th in the triple jump.

Rolla had strong finishes in the throwing events as well, particularly the javelin. Rebecca Janke and Kaberon Burgess set PRs in the event, with Janke placing seventh in the event with a throw of 110' 7" for the girls and Burgess placing ninth in the boys with a throw of 129' 7". Lauren Moersch also placed ninth in the javelin for the girls team. Other top throwing finishes included Celia Parsons placing 11th in the girls discus and Janke finishing in 13th in the girls shot put.

Rolla will next host their massive Rolla Invitational on Saturday, April 29 if the rain holds off.
