Rolla Middle School student competed in the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics elementary qualifying contest on Feb. 27 at Mark Twain Elementary School.
In the fifth grade category, in the Sprint round, Luke Foster placed second, and Evan Huang placed third. Fourth place went to Ameer Jawad, and fifth place went to Brooke Herdade.
In the sixth grade category, in the Sprint round, Angela Yang won first place, and Yahya ElGawady placed second. Third place went to David Fan, and Anish Jaggannathan earned fourth place.
In the fifth grade category in the Number Sense round, Perla Valley earned third place, and Evan Huang got fifth place,

In the Team round, the first place team included Yahya ElGawady, Evan Huang, Ameer Jawad and Perla Valley. The third place team included David Fan, Anish Jaggannathan and Angela Yang.
The following mathletes were eligible to compete at the regional level in Bolivar on March 5: Yahya ElGawady, David Fan, Luke Foster, Evan Huang, Ameer Jawad, Perla Valley and Angela Yang.
