A historic event occurred in Springfield, Missouri, Tuesday, when for the first time in the history of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, two women swore each other in as appellate judges. Judge Nancy S. Rahmeyer, left, and Judge Mary W. Sheffield, of Rolla, were each retained for another 12 year-term in the Nov. 4 general election. Rahmeyer has served on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District since 2001. Sheffield has served on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, since 2012. Prior to her appointment on the Court of Appeals, Sheffield was circuit judge for the 25th Judicial Circuit from 2004-2012, and also served from 1983 to 2004 as an associate circuit judge in Phelps County.
