A trial for a St. James man accused of killing one man and injuring another who died months later earlier this year in the Rosati area is scheduled for September 2015.
According to Missouri Case.net, the state’s online court records system, a jury trial has been set for the week of Sept. 14, 2015, for Oryon Dain Guinn, according to the latest case entry from Dec. 22.
The case was moved from Crawford County where the shooting occurred to Dent County on a change of venue in September.
Guinn has been charged with the April 23, 2014, shooting death of Herman Ilges, 58, at a residence in the 200 block of Piazza Road in the Rosati area in Crawford County.
Dean C. Groh, 53, was staying at the residence during the shooting and was injured during the incident. Then on June 29, Groh died.
Guinn faces charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is being represented by an attorney from a Farmington law office.
Also charged in connection with the incident is Chelsea Lynn Maxfield. She faces first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and first-degree assault charges.
Her case also has been transferred from Crawford County to Dent County on a change of venue request that occurred in July of this year.
A case review for Maxfield is set for Jan. 7, 2015, in Dent County Circuit Court. Maxfield is being represented by the public defender’s office in Rolla.
According to court records, Groh was the one who called police about the shooting incident and identified the shooting suspects.
Guinn and Maxfield were later found and arrested by St. James police in the parking lot at La Cabana Mexican Restaurant, east of St. James. A weapon believed to be used in the shooting also was found in the parking lot.
