Even though an average adult should drink six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily, many do not because — let’s face it — plain water is boring. With a chai, coffee or soda place on practically every corner, who wants to drink ho-hum water?

A few years ago, a whole market emerged that included flavored powders and liquids to add to water. That is still an option for those who want to make water more palatable. However, infusions are the rage to give H2O natural flavor and a healthy energy boost.

You can just add chopped fruits and berries to a water bottle or a cup with a lid and straw, or there are specialty infusers.

Fitness Must Haves unveiled its 2017 reviews of infusers, and Infusion Pro received the site’s top rating of 9.6 because of its affordability, dishwasher safeness, sweat-proof design, lifetime warranty and bottom-infusion feature so that water is always flavorful. Second place went to The Real Zeal for some of the same reasons.

There are endless suggestions and combinations for infusion experimentation; here are some from fitness site Daily Burn:
— Lemon with a sprig of lavender and a few drops of raw agave nectar
— Grapefruit and lemon combined with mint and a few slices of cucumber
— Watermelon with a cutting of basil
— Blueberries with slices of orange
— Apples, cinnamon, plums and pears

The best thing about infusion water is that water can be added many times to your fruit mix to stretch out the flavors, and when the water is gone a healthy snack remains.
