Additional charges filed in child sex crime investigation

     Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, in
   conjunction with Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh, Lafayette County Sheriff's
   Department, announce additional charges have been filed by the
   Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on November 16, 2009.


   The recent charges are in addition to those filed earlier last week.

      Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, Independence, Missouri -- Class B
   felony of forcible rape, acting in concert with another, knowingly had
   sexual intercourse with a child less than 14 years old by the use of
   forcible compulsion -- three counts; Class B felony of forcible sodomy,
   acting in concert with another, knowingly had deviate sexual
   intercourse with a child less than 14 years old by use of forcible
   compulsion -- one count; Class C felony of use of a child in a sexual
   performance -- three counts; Class D felony of sexual abuse, sexual
   contact by the use of forcible compulsion with a child less than 14
   years of age -- one count.

   felony of forcible rape, acting in concert with another, knowingly had
   sexual intercourse with a child less than 14 years old by the use of
   forcible compulsion -- one count; Class B felony of forcible sodomy,
   acting in concert with another, knowingly had deviate sexual
   intercourse with a child less than 14 years old by use of forcible
   compulsion -- one count.
      David A. Mohler, 52, Lamoni, Iowa -- Class B felony of forcible
   rape, knowingly had sexual intercourse with a child less than 14 years
   old by use of forcible compulsion -- one count.
     

Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, Columbia, Missouri -- Class B felony of
   forcible rape, knowingly had sexual intercourse with a child less than
   14 years old by use of forcible compulsion -- two counts.

      Roland Neil Mohler, 47, Bates City, Missouri -- Class B felony of
   forcible rape, knowingly had sexual intercourse with a child less than
   14 years old by use of forcible compulsion -- one count, Class B felony
   of forcible sodomy, knowingly had deviate sexual intercourse with a
   child less than 14 years old by use of forcible compulsion -- one
   count.

      All five individuals are being held at the Lafayette County Jail on
   bond.

      This investigation is continuing.  The Rural Missouri Major Case
   Squad is a multi-jurisdictional task force. 

Its members working on the
   case include the sheriff’s offices of Jackson County, Johnson County,
   and Pettis County, as well as the police departments from Odessa,
   Higginsville, Warrensburg, University of Central Missouri, and Sedalia.
   Also assisting in the investigation is the Western Missouri Cyber
   Crimes Task Force (WMCCTF).

   The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt.
   Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court
   of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or
   innocence.
