Both head coaches said that the Camdenton Lakers were getting well at the right time.
That proved to make the Rolla Bulldogs and their fans sick in their quest for an undefeated regular season and district championship.
Camdenton put the only blemish on the Rolla High School football team’s record Friday night and in the process stole away the Missouri Class 5 District 6 championship as well, posting a 21-13 victory.
The win left Rolla 9-1 overall and 2-1 in District 6. Camdenton is 7-3 and also 2-1 in the district. That result, coupled with Waynesville’s victory over Lebanon on Friday, gave the district crown to Camdenton, with Rolla getting the second and final district playoff berth.
Both Lebanon and Waynesville finished 1-2 in district play.
Had Lebanon beaten Waynesville the district title, and first-round playoff bye, would have went to Rolla, with Lebanon getting the second playoff berth and the Lakers being left out.
As it stands Rolla will now play at Washington against the host Blue Jays in Class 5 Regional playoff action Wednesday. Camdenton gets a first-round bye and will play in Class 5 Sectional action Nov. 9.
The winner of the Rolla-Washington game will play Parkway North in sectional action on Nov. 9.
