Lady Wolves top Steelville

The Newburg High school girls’ basketball team knocked off Steelville 66-50 in non-conference action on Thursday.

Newburg, now 6-10, led 12-11 after the first period. The Lady Wolves outscored Steelville 23-13 in the second period to take a 35-24 halftime edge. Newburg led 50-37 entering the fourth quarter.

Hannah Yelton, a 5-6 sophomore, had 16 points for the Lady Wolves while 5-7 junior Shannon McNamara added 13 points, 6-0 senior Brittany Wilson six rebounds; 5-11 junior Alex Hoffman four rebounds, and 5-6 senior Mary Porter three assists.

In half a junior varsity game Newburg won 20-17. Karlee Doerr had six points for the jayvee Lady Wolves.
