The Newburg High School boys’ basketball team staged a second-half rally to beat Owensville 38-34 in non-conference play on Monday.
Owensville led 10-5 after one period and took a 21-13 advantage into halftime.
The Newburg Wolves trailed 30-17 midway through the third period before senior guard Devon Drew went on a 7-0 run to spark the Newburg comeback. The Wolves outscored Owensville 16-9 in the third period and 9-4 in the fourth quarter.
Drew finished with 19 points to lead Newburg while sophomore Alan Yelton added 12.
Shawnee Wright led Owensville with 11 points.
Newburg won the junior varsity game 33-29. Kaleb Robinson had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Newburg jayvee squad.
Newburg is scheduled to play at Cuba in non-league action Friday. On Saturday Newburg will host Bourbon in a boys-girls non-league triple-header. The boys’ jayvee game is to begin at 3 p.m. followed by the girls’ varsity game and then the boys’ varsity contest.
