Another game, another one-goal defeat.
For the 15th time this season the Rolla High School girls’ soccer team was involved in a game decided by one goal.
Once again, it was a defeat.
The Lady Bulldogs were shut out by Jefferson City Helias 1-0 Tuesday on Kiwanis Field at the Bray Sports Complex.
Rolla falls to 11-9-2.
“I don’t think it is a big secret that we struggle to score,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “So we need to cut out the fouls in the attacking third. We are a difficult team to score on through the run of play; we certainly don’t need to help the other team out by giving them free kicks. If we want any chance of advancing at all next week we need to be more disciplined in that area.
“I was proud of the way we responded after we got scored on; we put some things together and were able to create some chances so that is a positive going forward. When it is all said and done we are a good team. We need to realize what we are and take advantage of those strengths and play unselfish soccer. If we can do that we have a shot next week. If not, our season is going to come to a pretty quick end.”
Helias also won the junior varsity game 2-0. The Lady Bulldog jayvee squad falls to 10-4-1.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to end the regular season by hosting Union Thursday. It will be Senior Night for RHS on Kiwanis Field, with jayvee action starting at 5 p.m.
