The Rolla High School wrestling team rolls out the mat and starts practice on Monday.
Sort of.
The first day high school wrestling programs around Missouri can practice is Monday. However, due to participation in the football and boys’ soccer fall programs still going on there will be several significant Bulldog wrestlers not in practice.
And second-year RHS head coach Kellen Laws is hoping they’re out for quite a while longer. “We hope we don’t have the football and soccer guys until late in November,” said Laws, hoping those programs go far in the state playoffs.
Laws does expect around 20 wrestlers in grades 9-12 at practice Monday, which will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the RHS wrestling room.
St. James Wrestling
The St. James wrestling team will also have its first practice on Monday, after school until 5:30 p.m. at the elementary school gym.
The Tiger wrestlers have five varsity lettermen back from last season's squad, including a pair of Missouri Class 2 State Tournament qualifiers.
