The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team threw yet another shutout Tuesday night.
Four games into the season the Lady Bulldogs have yet to be scored on. And on Tuesday RHS got a goal from freshman Taylor Banholzer 24 minutes in, which stood for a 1-0 victory at the Bray Sports Complex.
It was the Ozark Conference opener for Rolla, now 2-0-2 overall.
Banholzer’s goal was assisted by Rachel Zamazanuk. Junior keeper Adrian Pogue and the RHS defense made sure that was the only goal the Lady Bulldogs needed.
“It is always nice to get a win in conference play, so we are happy with the result,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “We played very well from our goal line to their box. That is where we have consistently broken down in the first four games.
“I’m thrilled that we have not been scored on yet, but we have to start getting some separation in some of these games where we control play.”
Rolla also won the junior varsity game 4-1. Amanda Mumma, Ashton Tiddy, Mariah Vincent and Taylor Tronstad had goals for the Lady Bulldog jayvee squad, now 1-1. Sydni Kaden had two assists and Kayla James one.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to play again Thursday, hosting Springfield Kickapoo in Ozark Conference action at the Bray Sports Complex. The jayvee game is to begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity contest to follow.
