Mexico team wins national tournament bert

The Post Office of Mexico captured the national tournament berth through the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) slow-pitch women’s softball Class C Qualifier, held at Ber Juan Park on Saturday.

The Post Office swept through the seven-team, double-elimination event with a 4-0 record. As a result Post Office earns a berth to the ASA Class C National Tournament, to be held at Springfield, Mo. over Labor Day Weekend.

Springfield Thunder placed second in the event while the Springfield Crush were third.

In the finals of the winners bracket Post Office blitzed Springfield Thunder 13-3, dropping the Thunder into the finals of the losers bracket against the Crush. In that game the Thunder won 6-3, advancing to the championship game.

In the finals the Post Office pulled out a 3-2 victory for the tourney title.

Other teams in the field were Ellis Flooring of Rolla/St. James, Interstate Regional Stockyards of Rolla/Salem, the St. Louis Hummerz and the Lugnuts.

Ellis Flooring lost to Post Office 10-0 and fell to Hummerz 12-3. Interstate Regional Stockyards lost to Hummerz 14-2 and to Crush 9-4.
