Missouri S&T will have several promotional events taking place during its home basketball games throughout the month of February as it wraps up its schedule for the 2011-12 campaign.

The promotions are highlighted by Saturday's Fort Leonard Wood/Military Appreciation Day at Billy Key Court and the opportunity to win an IPad2, courtesy of the Missouri S&T Bookstore, at the Miners’ Feb. 18 doubleheader against William Jewell College.

Drawing tickets for the IPad2 drawing, which will take place at halftime of the men's game that evening, will be on sale at the Missouri S&T basketball games beginning Thursday night and continuing through the first half of the Feb. 18 men's game while tickets are available. Tickets will also be sold by members of the Missouri S&T Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Havener Center during the week of Feb. 6-10.

All money raised through this effort will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the charitable organization of NCAA Division II which is looking to raise $100,000 nationwide during its “Week of Wishes” from Feb. 18-26. Drawing tickets will be sold for $2 apiece or three for $5, as Missouri S&T is looking to raise $1,500 for the foundation.

S&T's SAAC committee will hold a food drive for non-perishable food items at the two home games this week – Thursday vs. Quincy University and Saturday vs. the University of Illinois Springfield – as part of a competition with schools in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The goal for Missouri S&T is to collect at least 1,000 food items during the two home games that will be donated to GRACE.

Fans who bring food items to the games on Thursday and Saturday will receive a discount on tickets to the game on those dates. A donation of two or more food items will be good for $2 off of one general admission ticket or $1 off a children's admission to the doubleheader. (A family of four will need to bring at least eight food items to get a discount on each ticket.).

In addition, the St. James dance team will also perform at halftime of both games of the doubleheader.

On Saturday, Missouri S&T will hold its annual Fort Leonard Wood/Military Appreciation Day Saturday when it hosts Illinois Springfield. All members of the military – active, reserve, dependent or retired – will be admitted to the game free of charge. There will be a ceremony to honor the troops in attendance at halftime of the women's game.
