It looked like penalty kicks were going to decide the district soccer championship for a second straight year.

Then came a rocket off the foot of Camdenton’s Travis Miller.

Miller’s perfectly-placed goal with 6:59 left in the second overtime period gave the top-seeded Camdenton Lakers a 1-0 victory over third-seeded Rolla in the championship game of the Missouri Class 3 District 10 Tournament Thursday night at Waynesville’s Slaughter Field.

Miller’s goal took the district title away from the Bulldogs. It was Rolla who survived a pair of overtimes and won in PKs last year to beat Camdenton in the district championship contest.

This year it will be Camdenton representing District 10 in the sectionals.

Camdenton, now 16-2-1, will play either Jefferson City High or Columbia Hickman at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Jefferson City in Class 3 Sectional action.

Rolla ends the season with a 12-8-2 record.

The Bulldogs were blanked by Camdenton in regulation during a regular season game. On Thursday things were much more competitive, as Rolla came out with aggression.
