In an early-season battle of NCAA Division II powers it was the Missouri S&T swimming team that pulled out a dual-meet victory over Ouachita Baptist Saturday morning at the S&T Pool.
The S&T Miners, on the strength of six 1st-place finishes, posted a 120-85 dual-meet win.
In last season’s NCAA Division II National Championship the S&T Miners placed third as a team while Ouachita Baptist placed sixth.
Andrew Trowbridge won both of his individual events, capturing the 1,000-yard freestyle at 9:43.34 and the 500-yard freestyle at 4:43.85.
Other wins in individual events for the Miners came from Andrew Schranck in the 200-yard individual medley at 1:53.80, Phil Arve in the 200-yard butterfly at 1:53.70 and Zlatan Hamzic in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:07.86.
The Miners also won the 400-yard medley relay, as the team of Jeff Enge, Hamzic, Schranck and David Sanchez-Turner had a time of 3:28.18.
