Salem, Mo. -

Chris Bowe and Josh Stephens combined to throw a four-hitter and the Bulldogs scored at least two runs in each at bat, as the Rolla High School baseball team blasted Salem 14-0 Monday night.

The Bulldogs are now 17-3 overall.
“We hit the ball really hard and really well,” RHS head coach Jason Swearingen said. “I was pleased we responded so well after getting shut out in our last game against Parkview. They were aggressive at the plate and we got on them from the very start.
“We got some excellent pitching. Chris Bowe only allowed one ball to be put in play. He got all six of his outs with strikeouts. Josh Stephens had a really solid outing in relief.”

Bowe improved to 7-0 with the win. He allowed one hit in his two innings of work, striking out six. Stephens earned the save by pitching the final three innings. He allowed just three hits, striking out one.

Rolla scored two runs in the top of the first inning. After Dalton Friend doubled and Tyler Sinnott walked, William Morrison drove them both in with a double.

The Bulldogs plated four more in the second. Bowe singled and scored on a triple by Jeff Brown. Cameron Fore followed with an RBI double. He scored when Daniel Perdue reached base on an error by the shortstop. Perdue came across the plate later in the inning on a groundout by Morrison

Rolla made it 9-0 in the third. Andy Hall, Fore, and Bowe all walked to load the bases. Friend was then hit by a pitch, forcing in a run. Sinnott delivered a two-out double to plate two more runs.

In the fourth, the Bulldogs loaded the bases again, as Ross Parker singled and Bowe and Brown walked. Fore followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Parker. Bowe scored on a groundout by Perdue, making it 11-0.

Rolla added three more runs in the fifth to cap the scoring. Sinnott was hit by a pitch and advanced to third when the catcher misfired on a pickoff attempt. Sinnott would score on a wild pitch. Parker then doubled and Hall walked. Bowe and Tanner Dinsdale followed with RBI doubles.

Rolla will play Fulton in the championship game of the Fulton Tournament today at 6:30 p.m.

RHS won the junior varsity game with Salem, 4-3. Seth McWilliams was the winning pitcher. Blayne Shockley had three hits and a run. The jayvee Bulldogs won the Rolla JV Tournament over the weekend, beating Houston 8-7 and St. James 8-6.

Notes: Rolla was scheduled to play in the finals of the Four Rivers Tournament Saturday, but the game was not played due to a medical emergency involving Sandy Perdue, the mother of Bulldog shortstop Daniel Perdue. Perdue is still hospitalized at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. The entire Bulldog baseball family would like to extend their thoughts and prayers to the Perdue family.
