Waynesville, Mo. -

What was shaping up to be the biggest downer of the season ended up being the greatest district tournament comeback in the history of Rolla High School boys’ soccer Tuesday night.

The third-seeded Rolla Bulldogs roared back from a 2-0 deficit to tie things up and force overtime in Tuesday’s semifinal action against second-seeded host Waynesville in the Missouri Class 3 District 10 Tournament at Slaughter Field. After two scoreless, 15-minute overtime periods the game went to penalty kicks.

And a diving save by senior keeper Daniel McCaddon on the final PK attempt gave Rolla the 3-2 victory.

Defending district champion Rolla, 12-7-2, advances to the district tournament championship game on Thursday against top-seeded Camdenton at 6 p.m. on Slaughter Field. In Tuesday’s other semifinal game Camdenton shut out fourth-seeded Washington 3-0. In last season’s district title game the Bulldogs held off Camdenton on penalty kicks.

The winner of the Rolla/Camdenton game will advance to Missouri Class 3 Sectional action on Tuesday, Nov. 10 in Jefferson City.

Waynesville ends its season with a 13-8-2 mark.
