With a goal of $28,000, I am happy to report that the 2009 American Cancer Society Gala hosted by the Phelps County Unit, raised over $37,000. One of our very best!
The funds will be used by the American Cancer Society for all types of cancers by patients who are in need of various services such as transportation to treatment facilities, wigs, nutritional supplements, accommodations at Hope Lodge, and other support programs.
The funding will also be used for continued research and prevention education programs encouraging early and regular screenings, as well as healthier lifestyle changes. The earlier the detection, the more lives are saved.
The theme this year, “P.S. I Love You,” truly expresses our appreciation for your generous contribution and support. Your partnership in providing us space in the Rolla Daily News prior to the gala was great. We had a record attendance of 255 guests.
We are all tied together because we believe that we can make a difference.
We also believe that someday cancer will be eliminated altogether. Until that time, however, we will continue our fight. This is only possible with your help and the continuing support of this remarkable community.
