Support OAT; don’t
be ‘Clue-less’
Dear editor,
I want to encourage you and all your readers to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity here in Rolla this week.
On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (the 16th to the 19th), the Ozark Actors Theater (OAT) is presenting marvelous family entertainment.  The original game from which the play was derived was invented 65 years ago; it came to the U.S. five years later.
In its seven decades it has appeared as a board game, a card came, a DVD game, an online game, a “junior” game, and recently even an “app” for the iPhone.
Now, Rolla gets to play along as it appears as a stage musical.
In Clue, The Musical, all six original suspects are brought to life by a cast of brilliant actors.  We even get to meet the victim, Mr. Boddy, who appears onstage as a very funny narrator.  And, indirectly, we're all there, too, in the character of the detective.
When you enter the theater you're given a card with all the game's rooms, characters and weapons, just as you would get if you were playing.  And you get to play the game!
Audience members draw cards before the show starts to randomly decide by whom, where, and how Mr. Boddy met his end.
All the cast is excellent, but a special nod should go to Rolla's own Kevin Edwards as Col. Mustard and Amanda Engelke as the detective, and to the young man playing Mr. Boddy (whose name, I'm ashamed to admit) escapes me.
Tickets for OAT are a fraction of what they'd be in St. Louis, but the show couldn't be better.
Please don't pass up such a chance to laugh.

Having fun in Rolla,
catching fish is fun
Dear Editor,
My name is Michael Bright, I am 7-years old, from Yellville, Ark.,  and am staying with my grandparents, William and Deborah Day, this summer. While there I did some fishing at Schuman Park. On June 28th I went fishing for the first time and caught 5 fish. My best catch was this catfish. It was about 12 inches long and the first one I ever caught. I reall wanted to keep it, but we let it go so maybe next year I can catch it again and it will be bigger so I will be able to keep it then! I got to go back on Monday and caught two more fish, but neither were catfish. All and all, I had a good time fishing and I caught 7 fish this year!
Thank you,
— Michael J. Bright

Help fight Lupus,
come to ‘The Walk’
Dear Editor,
This Saturday, July 18, the Lupus Foundation of America – Missouri Chapter (LFA-MO) and Results Radio will present the First Annual Twilight Walk for Lupus Now, on the campus of Missouri University of Science and Technology.
We invite you to join us for this fun and exciting event, which will include activities with the University’s “Miners in Space”, a rock-climbing wall and more at the ARMY ROTC’s Activity Area, raffles, music and a bar-be-cue presented by Chartwells, the MST BBQ Club and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Rolla.
The event will begin with registration at 4 p.m. in front of the Havener Center, and the Walk at 5 p.m. Walkers will enjoy the option of a shorter, Casual Route and the longer Challenge Route, through the lovely, historic campus buildings of Missouri University of Science and Technology. Participation is free, and there are prizes available for those who raise $100 or more.
We anticipate 150 – 200 walkers for the inaugural year of this event, including families from as far away as Camdenton, Missouri and a walk team of 30+ family members who have chosen to make the Walk a part of their family reunion!
When you come to the Havener Center, please see Vicki Marks, Marketing Associate to check in, meet committee members for interviews, and find out where your best photo opportunities will be.
Thank you for your support of the Lupus Foundation of America – Missouri Chapter and the First Annual Twilight Walk for Lupus Now in Rolla. Making a difference starts with one step.
Thank you for taking that step!
