Chester Lewis, 80, of Rolla died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009.
Chester Lewis was born Oct. 10, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo. Chester married Norma Steen on July 21, 1952, in Salem, Ark. To their union three sons were born, David, Dennis and Derin.
Chester served his country for two years and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Chester was a lifelong mechanic and worked for the Rolla Ford dealer for 40 years. In his time off he continued his love of vehicles by working on them at his home.
Chester loved above all else, his wife and family. He spent his free time with his family and his wife Norma who never left his side and was his constant loving companion for 56 years.
Chester is survived by his wife, Norma; three sons, David Lewis and wife Debbie, Dennis Lewis and wife Marilyn, and Derin Lewis and wife Jennifer; he is further survived by five grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew, Alexus, Abby, and Haley and two great grandsons Mason and Dylan.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Sabre Lewis, brother Charlie Lewis and sister Mae Jones, grandson Christopher Lewis and twin great grandsons Dalton and Dawson.
Funeral services for Chester Lewis will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla, Mo., with Pastor Tim Cook officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be at Flat Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
