Mildred B. Rueffel of Vichy, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, in Rolla at the age of 95.
Mildred was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 13, 1914, to the late Everett and Dicia (Haley) Gorman.
Mildred was united in marriage to Frederick Rueffel on March 2, 1935, and to this union one child was born. Mildred was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Vichy, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, she loved doing for her family and did so in many ways, cooking, sewing, canning and working in the bountiful gardens she raised every year. The food she canned from the garden was always a loving reminder in the winter months of the efforts she put forth in the summer.
Friends and family also benefited from the gardens that Mildred raised, sharing her bounty of garden vegetables throughout the community. Mildred will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mildred B. Rueffel is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Frederick Rueffel of the home; daughter, Janie Blackwell, of Vichy, Mo.; grandchildren, Timothy Curtis Blackwell and wife Amy; Rachel Faith Dew and husband Chris; Great-grandchildren, Katie Marie and Curtis Charles Blackwell, Karsten Brenner and Kayden Quinn Dew.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Dicia Gorman; son-in-law, Darrel Blackwell; sisters, Myrtle Sewell and Lorna Peters.
Funeral service for Mildred B. Rueffel will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in the First Pentecostal Church in Vichy, Mo., with Pastor Tim Blackwell officiating.
Interment will be in the Broadway Baptist Cemetery in rural Maries County.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, in the First Pentecostal Church in Vichy.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Pentecostal Church, cards are available at all James & Gahr location.
