Loyd A. Payne of St. James passed away suddenly at his home Friday Oct. 16, 2009. He was 73.
Loyd Payne was born Feb. 20, 1936 at Thayer, Mo., the son of the late Loyd Alfred Payne Sr. and Bonnie (Sandridge) Payne.
On May 27, 1954 at Alton, Mo., Mr. Payne was united in marriage to Ruth Evelyn Javaux Payne.
Mr. Payne is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Ruth Evelyn Payne of St. James; dear daughters: Tanya Wood and husband Douglas of St. Louis, and Sheila Heine Javaux of Arnold, Mo. Brother: Joe Payne of Independence, Mo., Sisters: Faye Mills of Thayer, Mo., Lyda West and husband Gene of Denver; Gladys Farnbach and husband Ron of St. Ann, Mo., and one very special granddaughter: Jessica Lauren Heine. Along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Payne was a family person who loved his family and especially his granddaughter Jessica. He was an assistant manager of a Barge Co. for many years. He was Treasure, Decon and Father of the Year along with being a Sunday School teacher at the Thayer, Mo., Assembly of God before moving to St. James. He and his wife Evelyn, attended the First Assembly of God of St. James where they have many special friends. He enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle and goats and being in the outdoors.
Mr. Payne will lie in state on Monday October 19, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
Funeral Services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Bro. Mick Thrasher officiating. Burial will be held at the High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery.
