Marjorie May Barnes, 86, of Columbia passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Parkside Manor.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marjorie was born on August 9, 1931, in Columbia, the daughter of Ernest and Addline (Satterfield) Gholson, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to William Marvin Barnes in 1950. Approximately six months after getting married, William was sent to Korea where he was killed in action on Oct. 27, 1951.

She worked for Dorn-Cloney Laundry and Dry Cleaning and Sudden Service Cleaners, until her retirement. She enjoyed collecting various things, watching old western TV shows and movies. In her early years, she loved getting together with family and friends.

She is survived by sister, Helen Byers of Boone County; three brothers, William Gholson and wife, Patricia of Columbia, Edward Gholson and wife, Connie of Orlando, Fla., and Donnie Gholson and wife, Marilyn of Callaway County; numerous nieces and nephews; and lots of other extended family.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
