The Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin chip sealing Routes C and O in Texas, Phelps and Dent Counties, beginning Monday, July 6.  The project will start at Route 32 near Licking, Mo. and extend to Route 72 near Rolla. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The thin overlay of chips and oil added to the roadway seals and protects the pavement. Chip-seal resurfacing on roads also extends the life of the pavement by sealing cracks, increasing skid resistance and correcting minor rutting.

Crews will be working daylight work hours; flaggers and a pilot car controlling traffic will be used through the work zone.  When motorists travel a newly chip-sealed road marked by "Fresh Oil" and "Loose Gravel" signs, they should keep their speed down and allow plenty of distance between vehicles to prevent small rocks from coming loose and hitting oncoming traffic. Please allow ample driving time to your destination.
