Westbound Interstate 44 from Rolla's Kingshighway west to the Sugar Tree exit was reopened at 10 a.m. Friday.

The nine-plus mile stretch of highway was closed Sept. 26 and was not scheduled for completion until Nov. 22. Traffic was rerouted to the eastbound traffic lanes, as motorists drove head-to-head in that stretch for about six weeks.

There will be some minimal work to be completed, but the highway was opened in time for Friday's rush-hour traffic.
