Colonel James F. Keathley, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway
Patrol, announces the results for the cooperative High Enforcement Action
Team (H.E.A.T.) effort.
Twenty-five law enforcement agencies provided
additional enforcement activity on Interstate 44 during specific 24-hour
periods. Departments patrolled Interstate 44 from 6 a.m., on Saturday,
October 17, 2009 through 6 a.m., on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
The following totals reflect the enforcement contacts for all agencies:

Careless & Imprudent -- 15

Participating agencies included: MSHP Troops C, D, & I, Bourbon Police
Department, Crawford County Sheriff's Department, Cuba Police Department,
Eureka Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Greene
County Sheriff's Department, Jasper County Sheriff's Department, Joplin
Police Department, Kirkwood Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff's
Department, Lebanon Police Department, Newton County Sheriff's Department,
Phelps County Sheriff's Department, Pulaski County Sheriff's Department,
Rolla Police Department, Springfield Police Department, St. Clair Police
Department, St. Louis County Police Department, St. Louis Metro Police
Department, St. Robert Police Department, Strafford Police Department,
Waynesville Police Department, Webster County Sheriff's Department, and
Webster Groves Police Department.
“The cooperation among the law enforcement agencies involved in this High
Enforcement Action Team effort should be recognized,” said Col. Keathley.
“Missouri’s decrease in traffic fatalities can be attributed to enforcement
projects like this one coupled with drivers paying attention to the job of
driving and obeying all traffic laws. I want to express my sincere thanks
to all of the departments that participated.”
