The Missouri Department of Transportation will be chip sealing on Route M, Phelps County, between Route 63 and Route T, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27.  Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m.and 5 p.m.

MoDOT performs chip-seal resurfacing on roads that are in generally fair to better condition.  The benefits include crack sealing, increased skid resistance and correction of minor rutting, which extends the life of the pavement in a cost effective way.

While working, flaggers and a pilot car will be used to manage traffic. When motorists travel a newly chip-sealed road marked by "Fresh Oil" and "Loose Gravel" signs, they should keep their speed down and allow plenty of distance between vehicles to prevent small rocks from coming loose and hitting oncoming traffic. Please allow ample driving time to your destination.

MoDOT will perform patching on Interstate 44, Phelps County, in the eastbound lanes - from the Route V Overpass to the Route 68 Overpass, beginning Monday, Oct. 26.  Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Patching restores rideablility of the roadway surface. While performing this function, crews and equipment are located directly on the roadway. Motorist are urged to exercise caution when moving past the work zone.

MoDOT will also perform cleanup of fallen rock on Route 63, Phelps County from Route H to the Texas County line. Crews and equipment will be on the roadway, weather permitting, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Brush cutting and tree trimming improves safety by keeping the right-of-way and roadways clear of debris.
