Practicing what they preach and teach, officials from Missouri S&T, Rolla Municipal Utilities, the City, an energy conservation expert and the Department of Natural Resources explained strides they are making to make buildings under their command more energy efficient while professing the practices are something every family can achieve.

Thirty-nine people gathered at Phelps County’s Multipurpose Room on Friday evening as a handful of energy experts that included Angela Rolufs, Director, Missouri Transportation Institute and Institute for Environmental Excellence; Steve Hargis, the city’s Director of Public Works, Joe Gillman, the Department of Geology and Land Survey with the DNR, Rodney Bourne, general manager of RMU, Leisa Stilley, spokeswoman for Intercounty Electric Cooperative, David Pollock, a home-energy survey expert with Cornerstone Energy, and Mariesa Crow, professor in electrical engineering at Missouri S&T, explained the strides each is making toward energy conservation.

Board of Public Works member Mark Rolufs was the emcee.

The Forum, which began at 7 p.m., was hosted by Jeffersonian Democratic Club of Phelps County.
