Rolla Police are continuing an investigation into the strong-arm robbery Tuesday night of a male attendant at Gas Plus, located at 521 South Bishop Ave.
According to police, at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday, dispatchers received a report of a robbery that occurred at the station, which is located just across U.S. Route 63 from Walmart.
According to Lt. Jason Smith, two suspects, after initially asking to use the restroom, approached the attendant and forcefully stole an undisclosed amount of money from the attendant. The suspects, who did not reveal a gun, then fled the scene heading in a southerly direction, toward Payless Shoes.
Police are withholding the name of the attendant.
“We had four officers respond to the robbery,” Smith said.
Calls to and messages left at Hocker Oil Co. of Salem, the parent company, for comment and policies regarding attendants’ conduct when being accosted, were not returned.
“The general response is it is best to not try to fight (with assailants),” Smith said. “Although, that’s each individual’s call to make.”
The two suspects are described as white males, in their early 20s, wearing blue jeans and hoodies with the hoods pulled up tight against their faces.
One suspect was described as being approximately 6-feet tall, weighing about 145 pounds and the other suspect was described as being 5-feet 7-inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds.
The attendant at the Gas Plus on Wednesday afternoon said he normally works at another station and knew nothing of the robbery from the day before.
The Gas Plus station on South Bishop is one of two such stations in Rolla, the other being at 1045 Kingshighway. Last year, the Kingshighway station also was robbed.
Smith asked persons with information regarding the identity of these suspects or have any information pertaining to this case, please contact the Rolla Police Department at 308-1213 or the Rolla Police Department Confidential Hotline at 364-0111.
