ST. ROBERT — Diners at the busy El Jimador restaurant got more than they bargained for when a truck came crashing through the eatery wall Monday night.

According to the St. Robert Police Department, Ruben Perdroza, 22, of St. Robert drove his 2000 Ford F150 truck through the wall after accidentally putting the truck in drive instead of reverse. The truck went across the sidewalk in front of the restaurant before crashing through the wall.

Restaurant manager Martin Salgado said the vehicle took down the wall in the smoking section, but no one was injured — even though the business was full of customers.

The front of the restaurant was boarded up overnight Monday and repairs began early Tuesday morning.

Salgado said reopening was dependent on how fast repairs could be made and pending an inspection by the city.

According to SRPD's press release, the truck sustained minor damage while the restaurant sustained extensive damage.

Perdroza was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and was released on bond. He is scheduled to appear in St. Robert Municipal Court Feb. 10.
