Just in time for the holidays!
Phelps County residents can expect to receive a small and expected surprise waiting for them in their mailboxes within the next few days.
Real-estate and personal-property tax bills were mailed by the County Collector’s office today.
Residents should receive their statements no later than Nov. 13, said Davis Haas, county collector.
Haas said 19,960 real-estate bills and 16,765 personal-property bills were mailed. The total amount due on the mailings is $20.47 million.
Anyone who owns real estate in Phelps County should receive a real-estate, yellow-paper bill. If the taxes are paid by a mortgage company, the Collector’s Office will send residents a paid receipt after the company pays the bill.
If a mortgage company is supposed to pay the bill, and a resident gets the bill instead, it should be forwarded to the mortgage company.
For county residents who own any motorized vehicles, or business owners, they will receive a personal-property, white-paper bill.
Payments are due in the Collector’s Office by Dec. 31.
“Pay early by mail to beat the rush,” Haas said.
Bills may be paid online at http://www.phelpscounty.org/collector/collector.htm, or by phone at (877) 309-9313.
Types of payment that is accepted includes check, cash, money order and credit card.
Questions about the value of property or the mailing address on statements should be directed to the Phelps County Assessor’s Office at 453-6135.
