City officials in Rolla have a vision for its downtown: Make it the best place possible – a full-service, mixed-use destination that is known for its unique character, is welcoming, safe and accessible for citizens and visitors of all ages.

 

They will get the chance to make that dream a reality. After being denied following three previous attempts, Rolla has been bestowed Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri (DREAM) designation. The city is one of  five Missouri communities selected to participate in the 2009 DREAM Initiative, a program designated to  help communities to more efficiently and effectively engage in downtown redevelopment and revitalization efforts. 

 

Rolla, along with Brookfield, California, New Haven, and Savannah were selected during the fourth round of communities chosen for the initiative. The five were selected from a total of 16 applicants.
