Annual Cancer Gala slated for Saturday, Feb. 13

Event will mark the 25th annual fundraiser

Celebrating 25 years in the fight against cancer, the Phelps County Unit of the American Cancer Society continues its fundraising effort.

The annual event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at Missouri S&T’s Havener Center. Guests will be greeted with chilled glasses of complimentary champagne and a cash bar at 6 p.m.

A seated dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Individuals and businesses will provide unique and valuable items for the silent auction.

Several members of the gala committee have served 10 years or more.

Sponsorships are available to support the event. The $1,000 sponsorships receive six complimentary reservations, the $600 sponsorships receive four complimentary reservations, $300 sponsorships receive two complimentary reservations.

Silent auction items include several sets of Cardinal baseball tickets including two sets of suites behind home plate donated by David Weinbaum, a custom-designed gala piece of jewelry by Kent Bagnall of Kent Jewelry, original works of art donated by local artists, gift baskets filled with gift certificates and merchandise, and much more.

Individual reservations are $60 per person. Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Ivana Harris, Town and Country Bank North, 1804 North Bishop, Rolla, Mo., 65401. The deadline for all reservations is Friday, Feb. 5.

Seating preferences should be included with the reservation. Each table accommodates eight people. The event is very dressy with black-tie optional.

Women’s attire ranges from formal gowns to cocktail dresses. Men usually wear suits or tuxedos.
