A visual art camp featuring master artists training students daily, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 4-8, in Salem.
Cost is $35 per day. Students may choose to come for one day or all five.
For those traveling to attend the camp, cost is $75 per night.
The camp will begin  Monday, Aug. 4, with local artist, writer, and teacher Sharon Jeffus, introducing the goals of the camp and instructing the students in techniques in charcoal. Students will have a finished charcoal to frame by the end of the day.
“These teachers are amazing, adults are welcome, too, it’s an excellent opportunity for young and old alike to learn techniques and do art,” Jeffus said.
Edie Gabel, a master artist who’s work is shown in Chicago and is past president of Spring Creek Artisans will show watercolor techniques. Edie specializes in trains, buildings, and nostalgic art. Students also will do a picture with Edie on Monday.
On Tuesday, artist Michael Helm will do painting on canvas with students. Color and pastel also will be worked with. Students who attend on this day will complete a painting on canvas suitable to frame.
Wednesday, nationally known bird artist David Plank will be doing watercolor birds and sharing his techniques. Students will complete a watercolor and sculpture of birds.
Artist Karen Lough will work with students in the afternoon, teaching them primitive techniques, and show her primitive paintings.
Thursday the day will be spent at Montauk State Park with naturalist Steve Nast introducing a variety of creatures seen at Montauk, including deer, snapping turtles, and birds of prey.
Wildlife photography will be taught by Jonathan Jeffus. Students will be drawing and sculpting animals and doing wire sculpture and marblex.
A guest sculptor will talk on his metal art.
Those who attend Friday, the final day will learn about computer art and graphics from  graphic artist Jonathan Jeffus. Students are invited to bring their laptops and get excellent free graphic software with training on how to use it. Students will finish a computer graphic for their portfolio.
