Rolla, Mo. -

A 59-year-old Rolla man was found guilty in the March 22, 2002, accident in which a mother and her unborn fetus were killed.

Patrick Wayne Zullig, 59, of Rolla was found guilty Friday by a jury of his peers in which Shannon Mocabee and her unborn fetus were killed in the accident.

A second Mocabee infant, strapped in a car seat, was injured in the accident, transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center, and was subsequently released.

On the date of the accident, Zullig was driving his truck west on Missouri Route 72.

Just after crossing Highway O, Zullig drifted across the center line and collided head-on with the Mocabee passenger car traveling the opposite direction.
As a result of the collision, Mocabee died on the scene.

On Friday, a jury found Zullig guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree.

“My thanks to the efforts of the Rolla Police Department, Phelps County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.  As a result of their cooperative efforts, I truly believe justice has been served,” said Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney Courtney George.

Zullig will be sentenced in August, by Judge Tracy L. Storie from the 25th Judicial Circuit.

Involuntary manslaughter in the first-degree is a Class B felony and is punishable by serving up to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections and a $10,000 fine.
