Troop I’s Becker to retire on Aug. 1

Capt. Randy L. Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, is retiring as of Aug. 1.
Becker retires after 29 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Missouri.
Becker was appointed to the Patrol on July 9, 1979, as a member of the 50th Recruit Class.
After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone Three, St. Louis County.
In 1987 Becker was promoted to Cpl. and assigned to Zone 13, St. Francois/Washington counties.
He was promoted to sergeant and designated zone commander of Zone 11, Jefferson County, in 1989.
In 1995 Becker was promoted to Lt. and assigned to Troop I, in Rolla.
Becker was promoted to Capt. and designated commanding officer of Troop I in 2002.
Becker was born in St. Louis. He graduated from Crystal City High School in Crystal City. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1975, then in the reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1977.
Prior to joining the Patrol, Becker worked for the Crystal City Police Department.
Capt. Becker said the last 29 years have been some of the most proud of his  life, being able to serve the citizens of Missouri and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
In his retirement he is looking forward to spending time with his wife, Mary, who he has been married to for 35 years and his two grown children and grandchildren.
