The Rolla Public Library has a new logo.
The logo was designed by longtime board member Wil Freeze, who, after serving for the last nine years, is resigning his position.
“I actually served before and then took a little break, so I’ve served more than nine years. I’m proud to be a charter member of the Friends of the Library,” Freeze said.
Freeze created the new logo at no cost to the library. He donated his time and came up with a logo that includes a drawing of the Rolla Public Library and the name, address, phone, FAX, e-mail address and Web address.
The new logo will go on letterheads and other materials designated by the library.
Freeze also donated a new T-shirt with the new logo imprinted on it to go to each of the library staff to thank them for their service.
Karen Daily will be reappointed as a board member and Ralph Alexander will be newly appointed at the next city council meeting by Mayor William S. Jenks III.
A budget committee was formed consisting of members Bill Hickle, Mark Stauter and Cheryl Goltz.
The board has $182,000 saved in the building fund for the library expansion project set for October, 2009. The goal is to raise $250,000 to cover all costs and to be prepared for any unforeseen expenses.
The Friends of the Library book sale is tentatively set for June, but an exact date hasn’t be approved.
After the sale, Friends will be giving the Library $1,500 to help offset unfunded summer program expenses.
The next Rolla Public Board meeting will be held June 12.
