A 19-year-old student at Missouri University of Science & Technology was pronounced dead Thursday evening, the result of an apparent suicide.
Ian T. Willand, a freshman in electrical engineering from Eureka, was found dead in his room at Residential College Building Two.
Willand shared a suite with other students, which consists of four separate bedrooms and a common area.
The discovery was reported to 911 at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday after another student found Willand.
Counselors were made available to the students Thursday evening to help them cope with the trauma.
The death is currently under investigation by the University Police and Rolla Police Department.

Willand was transported to the PCRMC Morgue and was to be transferred to Schrader Funeral Home in Eureka on Friday.
Students at Missouri S&T are in their final week of classes as graduation is slated next week.
