Keynote speaker at this weekend’s Memorial Day ceremonies will be Brig. Gen. Thomas W. Spoehr.
Brig. Gen. Spoehr is Commandant of the U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School at Ft. Leonard Wood and is responsible for the training and support of over 21,000 members the U.S. Army Chemical Corp worldwide.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia in 1980 and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Webster College, St. Louis, Missouri.
The ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m. at Rolla Cemetery and 11 a.m. at Ozarks Memorial Gardens.
Rolla Cemetery is located at the intersection of Missouri Route 72 and Rolla Street. Memorial Gardens is located on the city’s southern edge, on U.S. Route 63 south.
Spoehr assumed his duties as the 24th Chief of Chemical and the Commandant of the U.S. Army Chemical School on 29 June 2006, which was subsequently redesignated as the U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School on Jan. 11.
In this capacity he has responsibility for the training and support for the over 21,000 members of the U.S. Army Chemical Corps, engaged worldwide in protecting the nation from Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear hazards and threats.
