Rolla City Council members tonight face a full slate of activity when it convenes at 5 p.m. for an executive session to discuss union negotiations among city workers, and in open session members are expected to hear an impeachment consideration for one of its own.
The regular meeting convenes at 6:30 p.m.
Rolla City workers last month won the right to unionize, voting to join the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
Sixty-one city workers voted 47-14 to unionize. Leading up to the vote and since, city workers have been talking to SEIU officials and council members are expected to discuss the union this evening during their executive session.
There is no action on the union scheduled, according to the agenda presented Friday.
During the comments portion of the meeting, Ward 6 Councilwoman Donna Hawley is scheduled to lead a discussion of allegations of abuse of power. A second item during that segment seeks impeachment considerations for Ward 1 Councilman Terry Ruck.
Hawley has received an Order of Protection against Councilman Ruck.
Scheduled between the early closed session and the comments portion, commissions and city department heads are expected to give monthly reports. There also will be Final Readings on zoning requests and repeals and amendments to city ordinances.
Under New Business, City Council members will discuss the use of city-owned property at the Ramsey Building at the corner of Eighth and Rolla streets; information about a proposed name change for the Solid Waste Department to the Environmental Services Department; seeks to revise its contract with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources; hear an update on televising the Rolla Municipal Utilities meetings and the Municipal Court offices.
The agenda mentions a possible closed session to discuss real estate before adjournment.
