The Phelps/Maries County Health Department is anxiously awaiting another shipment of H1N1 vaccine to begin flu clinics for Rolla students.
Having completed H1N1 flu clinics at Immanuel Lutheran Church School in Rolla on Tuesday, Belle schools on Wednesday and Vienna schools on Thursday, Health Department Director Jodi Waltman said she did not know when the next shipment of vaccine would arrive.
Having received one shipment this week and no shipments last week, the vaccine is in short supply. The shipment is dependant upon when the state enters the Phelps County order into its database.
For Phelps County residents, the present supply of H1N1 vaccine still is restricted to high-priority groups — pregnant women, infants, caregivers and parents of infants and health-care workers involved with direct patient care.
Waltman suggested that parents of infants check with their pediatricians to ascertain the availability of the vaccine. The Health Department has distributed H1N1 vaccine to pediatricians, obstetricians and other health-care clinics throughout the area.
