A federal grand jury issued an indictment Wednesday charging a former Rolla postal clerk with one felony count of theft of United States property, one felony count of embezzlement from the U.S. Postal Service and one felony count of making false entries and reports.
According to the indictment, James A. Flett, 51, allegedly stole money and property of the U.S. Postal Service in excess of $1,000, misappropriated funds, money and property in excess of $1,000 and made false and fictitious entries in accounts and records with the intent to defraud the government.
The charges levied against Flett reportedly occurred between June 8 and Aug. 24, 2009, when he worked as a postal clerk for the Rolla branch, according to information contained in the indictment.
A warrant for Flett’s arrest was issued Monday.
As of Friday, Flett was not in custody, said a spokesperson with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in St. Louis.
