BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (AP) — A Blue Springs man is in custody after leading police to a body dumped in a Cass County creek.
On Sunday, Jackson County prosecutors charged 52-year-old Lance S. Gross with abandoning a corpse. Prosecutors are seeking a bond of $150,000.
Prosecutors said Gross told police that he and another man dumped the body Jan. 23 in the creek.
The case remains under investigation. Prosecutors said further charges may be filed depending on autopsy, toxicology and other reports.
The identity of the victim has also not yet been confirmed.
A spokesman for the prosecutor said no one has filed paperwork seeking to represent Gross, and it's not clear whether he has an attorney.
