Two St. Louis men have been arrested for the alleged burglary of Sinks Pharmacy on Wednesday night.
Edward K. Shigemura, 60, and John E. Kichell, 54, were arrested for second-degree burglary and possession of burglars tools.
Rolla Police officers, Henry Harper, Christina Smith, Wesley Wilfong, and Luke Kearse responded to an alarm sounding at the Pharmacy located in the 1100 block of Hauck Drive.
Upon arrival officers noticed a flower pot in front of the business turned over. The officers established a perimeter of the building and began surveillance of the immediate area.
Moments later, officers observed two male subjects crawling out of a creek, which runs directly behind the business.
According to reports, police gave verbal commands to the suspects but those commands were disregarded and a foot pursuit ensued.
The officers quickly apprehended Shigemura and later found Kitchell laying submerged in the creek.
Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
It was later determined the suspects had forced entry into the building through a rear door. Additionally, officers located burglar-type tools at the scene.
At this time it is not believed that anything was stolen from the business, but the investigation is continuing.
Chief Kearse noted that he is “extremely proud of the officers’ response and quick thinking” that ultimately led to the arrest of the two suspects.
