Most students look forward to this time of year with great anticipation. It’s time for summer vacation.
Kids have been dreaming about how they will spend their time for the last couple of weeks.
It doesn’t seem like summer until the city pool opens, and Rolla kids can rest assured that SplashZone will be ready and waiting for them Saturday.
There is plenty for kids to do while they’re on vacation right here in Rolla.
The library has a special summer-reading program from June 1 through July 31. Kids can pick up an activity guide at the Rolla Public Library beginning June 1. Everyone who hands in a completed guide will receive a certificate and prizes, and they’ll be eligible for end of program drawings.
For more information on activities at the library call 573 364-2604.
Families will be taking vacations, as Zack Benson, a student at Mark Twain Elementary, is looking forward to his.
“I’m going to summer school, and I’m going to Gulf Shores, Ala.,” said Benson.
Carter Wands, a student from Wyman Elementary is planning on working on his athletic skills during the summer.
“I’m planning on practicing basketball during the summer,” said Wands.
Younger brother Kobe Wands has plans, too.
“I’m gonna ride my four-wheeler, swim, and practice football,” said the younger Wands.
Some kids will be taking off for camps, some will be traveling, and most will enjoy sleeping in each morning.
Whatever their plans, they all seem to be looking forward to summer.
